Card Shuffler
A guide for learning about how to find a great automatic card shuffler and other related playing card resources
Imagine that you are starring in a new western that’s all about you. You and the other characters are sitting in the backroom of a smoky saloon bar. As it’s the Wild West, there has to be a bad guy, the big bandit, and he has challenged you to a game of cards. If you win, you get all the loot. And if you don’t, you’re dead. It’s time to shuffle the cards, and you’ve asked the little guy in the corner to do the job. At this point in a classic movie, we, the audience, would be treated to a slow shuffle of the deck of cards, with the most elaborate riffling, with the loaded glances of the two main characters going back and forth. The tension is at fever pitch because you, the hero, are playing for your life, and the shuffling of the cards appears to go on forever. But wait! This is the age of modern technology, and the little guy in the corner has decided to do away with all the tricks, riffles, and flourishes that make card shuffling an art form. Instead of doing this amazing performance, he pulls out the most amazing gadget – a card shuffler.
Unfortunately, the card shuffler has probably killed the tensest moment in your western.
The sight of a machine shuffling those cards just doesn’t do it. The drama is lost, and the amazing standoff between you and Big Bandit suddenly appears mundane. But when you consider the various benefits of the card shuffler, this doesn’t seem fair. This is because the card shuffler makes sure that cards are sorted out in a truly random and objective way.
This makes playing the subsequent game – whether Black Jack, Pontoon, or Poker – much fairer and more equal. More to the point, it is much harder to cheat if you use a card shuffler. Therefore, if the guy in the corner has decided to throw the game to make sure that Big Bandit will do away with you forever, he will find it much harder to do so if he uses a card shuffler.
A card shuffler uses modern technology to make sure that everything is done fairly. For instance, one of its features is a translucent covering that reveals how the cards are shuffled as it is done, ensuring that the process is transparent and no one has cheated.
There are various types of card shuffler on the market. Some are larger and more sophisticated, for use in casinos and other types of gaming places. Others are smaller and more compact, and they can be used at home for games with your friends and family. As they are so much smaller, they are relatively unobtrusive and are very portable.
The card shuffler of today may have taken a little of the drama and romance out of card games, but it can make the game much easier and more exciting to play. So you have a choice, either you can opt for the human card shuffler, who may entertain you with his tricks but might be a cheat, or the less glamorous mechanized card shuffler. It is up to you which one you choose. It’s your western, after all.
